Take ONE Drama
Our drama ministry at GPCC has done several productions since its inception in 2012. The team, known by the name “Take ONE,” is built upon the premise found in John 14:6…that Jesus is the ONE truth, and the ONE way to God the Father. This ministry continues to help spread the Gospel of Christ through plays, human videos, skits, sermon illustrations, and so on.
Perhaps the most notable accomplishment of Take ONE to date has been the impact of its performances of two original plays. Team leader Debbie Protasewich co-wrote “What’s Up With Mike?” a few years back in Chicago, along with two other people. After coming to Grace Pointe, Debbie was instrumental in starting up our drama team, and Take ONE boldly took on “What’s Up With Mike?” as its debut project in 2012.
This first public appearance of Take ONE, with a heavy helping of the grace of God, is what launched the ministry itself. Other projects followed, but “What’s Up With Mike?” remained the biggest thing the team had done for a while. While preparing to perform the play again in 2013, a writing team was assembled and began meeting regularly to write a sequel. This team consisted of Debbie Protasewich, Stan Massengill, and Stace Massengill. The sequel to “What’s Up With Mike?” would be called, “What Happened to Rose?”

Just as the first play was written to be performed around the Christmas season, “What Happened to Rose?” was written to be performed during the Spring around Resurrection Sunday. During the 2014 debut of this sequel at GPCC, four people committed their lives to Christ. Still another person made a re-dedication. Cast and crew saw this as the perfect achievement of their hard work and efforts. Neither play had a curtain call or roll of credits because Take ONE wants the focus to remain on God and His Son, Jesus.
God willing, Take ONE will continue to lead souls into the Kingdom for years to come.
